Parents of individuals with disabilities share many unique questions, concerns and challenges when trying to decide what is in the best interest of their son or daughter.
The Medina County Family Mentor Program is available to provide the necessary support and resources to the family members of children and adults with disabilities and to the professionals that serve them.
Services offered by the Family Mentor Program
- Guidance through the special education process, including rights and responsibilities;
- Someone who will listen to and provide support for families and educators on an individual basis;
- Provide information and resources to families and professionals, including education laws, district programs and services and community resources;
- Someone who can attend meetings at family or staff request;
- Information sessions and workshops based on needs of families and professionals;
- Facilitation of collaborative partnerships between families, schools, workplaces and committees for the benefit of individuals.
The Medina County Family Mentor Program is a collaborative effort between SHC and the Medina County Board of MRDD
